On March 2, 2015, NXP Semiconductor NV reached an agreement to acquire Freescale Semiconductor, creating a new chip industry giant with combined revenue of more than $10 billion. Under the agreement, Freescale shareholders will receive $6.25 in cash and 0.3521 shares of NXP common stock per share. NXP said the purchase price is approximately $11.8 billion.
