Qualcomm has launched the world's first enterprise-level mobile processor that fully integrates RFID functionality
Qualcomm Snapdragon ™ Q-6690 is the world's first enterprise-level mobile processor that fully integrates ultra-high frequency (UHF) radio frequency identification (RFID) functionality.
By integrating integrated RFID with AI and advanced connectivity technologies, Qualcomm Snapdragon Q-6690 supports edge terminals in retail, commercial and industrial segments to connect, compute and interact in a smarter, proximity aware way.
Leading Oems such as Zebra Technologies, Honeywell, UBtech, HMD Secure and CipherLab will be the first to adopt this platform, and commercial terminals are expected to be available in the coming months.
San Diego, August 26, 2025 - Qualcomm Technologies Inc. today announced the launch of its new breakthrough processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon ™ Q-6690, which is the world's first enterprise-level mobile processor fully integrated with ultra-high frequency (UHF) radio frequency identification (RFID) capabilities. This processor is equipped with 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and ultra-wideband technology, supporting proximity perception experience and outstanding global connection capabilities. Qualcomm Leap Dragon Q-6690 is designed to support a wide range of terminal forms, from rugged handheld devices to retail POS systems and intelligent self-service terminals, providing Oems and ODMs with an expandable and upgradable platform, and is equipped with a software-configurable feature package that can be upgraded via OTA.
Art Miller, vice president of Qualcomm Technologies and head of Retail business, said: "The Qualcomm Snapdragon Q-6690 integrates RFID, AI and next-generation wireless connectivity capabilities on a single, scalable platform, aiming to accelerate innovation in numerous industries such as retail, logistics and manufacturing." We are very pleased to collaborate with many retailers. What they need now is not only a powerful and connected platform, but also one that can adapt to the constantly changing customer expectations, including smarter self-service terminals and handheld devices, as well as real-time inventory analysis and contactless experiences.
The world's first enterprise-level mobile processor that fully integrates RFID functionality
Qualcomm Snapdragon Q-6690 is the world's first enterprise-level mobile processor that fully integrates RFID functionality, eliminating the need for an external RFID reader module and thus supporting smaller and more efficient terminal designs. This integrated design can provide more convenient support for contactless use cases that emphasize security, such as access control, asset tracking, inventory management, and product verification, especially suitable for retail, logistics, and industrial applications.
