Toshiba has launched a small 80V electronic fuse (eFuse IC) specifically designed for protecting 48V power lines in industrial equipment.

Shanghai, China, August 20, 2026 - Toshiba Electronic Components and Storage Devices Co., Ltd. (Toshiba) announced today that it has expanded its eFuse 

IC product line by adding a new product with a rated voltage of 80V - "TCKE1401NM". This product began shipping today.


The new product is packaged in VQFN24D, which is the industry-leading small package for 80V-rated eFuse ICs. This device not only helps enhance the s

afety of the power line protection circuit but also effectively reduces the PCB size of industrial equipment.


Driven by the demand for higher output power and efficiency, 48V power systems are gradually being adopted in servers, network equipment, factory 

automation equipment, robots, and other industrial devices. This trend requires power line protection circuits to have high voltage withstand capabilities 

and multiple protection functions.


eFuse IC is a semiconductor fuse that protects downstream circuits from abnormal currents, abnormal voltages, and other fault conditions. In addition to 

the short-circuit protection function that traditional physical fuses [2] possess, it also integrates multiple protection functions such as overcurrent protection,

 overvoltage protection, reverse current blocking, input reverse connection protection, and thermal shutdown in a single chip, thereby achieving a more 

comprehensive and compact power line protection circuit solution.


TCKE1401NM has a rated voltage of 80V and supports a wide operating voltage range of 4.7V to 75V. Its high voltage withstand characteristic enables it to 

be widely used in 24V, 48V, and 54V systems for power line protection. Additionally, its low on-resistance (RON) of 44.5mΩ (typical value) helps reduce 

power loss during operation, thereby improving equipment efficiency. The device is packaged in a 4.0mm×4.0mm (typical value) VQFN24D package, which 

helps further reduce the PCB board area.


The main protection functions of this eFuse IC include: controlling the output current when an overcurrent occurs through the current-limiting function, and

 shutting down the output when an overvoltage occurs through the overvoltage protection function. The working thresholds of these two functions can be 

set through external resistors. Moreover, it also has true reverse current blocking and reverse connection protection functions, which require the cooperation 

of an external MOSFET to protect both the IC itself and the downstream circuits simultaneously.


The new eFuse IC also has the FLAG function (for notifying external circuits of abnormal conditions), the power-good function (for indicating the output 

voltage status), and the output current monitoring function. When an unexpected short circuit or abnormal overheating occurs, the thermal shutdown 

function will immediately shut down the output of the eFuse IC to protect the downstream circuits. The recovery mode in abnormal conditions can be 

switched between two working modes: one is the automatic retry mode where the eFuse IC automatically recovers, and the other is the latch mode 

triggered by an external signal for recovery.


Toshiba will continue to develop eFuse ICs that help enhance the safety and reliability of power line protection and expand the product line to meet a wide 

range of demands.
