Bourns has launched the MH3261-T series of high-current ferrite beads

The global renowned electronic component manufacturer and supplier Bourns announced the launch of the MH3261-T series of high-current ferrite beads today. This series of products is specifically designed to address the electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression challenges in high-density PCB layouts, particularly suitable for applications with limited current capacity and space constraints on the circuit board. The new series combines a 3.2×1.6 mm compact package with low DC resistance (DCR), with a rated current of up to 11 A, effectively suppressing noise without introducing excessive power loss, ensuring stable performance in space-constrained designs.

As power density continues to increase and PCB components become increasingly compact, designers face stricter insertion loss limitations while maintaining efficient high-frequency noise suppression. In such environments, the beads must be able to withstand higher currents without thermal overload (thermal overstress) or impedance reduction. The MH3261-T series successfully overcomes these limitations by combining low DCR with a wide impedance range, up to 1000 Ω at 100 MHz, supporting EMI control in dense layouts and operating stably within a wide temperature range of -55°C to +125°C.

"High-density power supplies need magnetic beads that can handle large currents while not sacrificing impedance or thermal margin," said Edward Liu Liu, the product line manager of Bourns' magnetic components. "Our purpose in developing the MH3261-T-T series is to provide low DC resistance and a rated current of up to 11 A within a compact package size of 3.2 × 1.6 × 1.1 mm, helping designers effectively manage EMI in constrained layouts and maintain operational stability within the wide temperature range of -55°C to +125°C."

Design features and key advantages

· High rated current capacity: Supports rated currents of 2 A to 11 A depending on the impedance value, suitable for high-current power supply paths.

· Low DC resistance (Low DCR): DC resistance as low as 0.0025 Ω, minimizing power loss and temperature rise at rated currents.

· Wide impedance range: Provides impedance values from 30 Ω to 1000 Ω at 100 MHz, offering high flexibility for specific EMI suppression requirements.

· Compact, low-profile package: Dimensions of 3.2 × 1.6 × 1.1 mm, perfectly supporting high-density PCB layouts.

· Wide operating temperature range: Rated operating temperature of -55°C to +125°C (including the self-temperature rise under rated current).

Compliant with RoHS standards*, halogen-free.
