Bourns has launched the SRP2008DP series, which helps with the design of miniaturized and high-density power supplies.
April 14, 2026 - Bourns, a globally renowned leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components for power, protection and sensing solutions, announced today the launch of the new SRP2008DP series of high-current shielded power inductors. These inductors are specifically designed for high-current applications that require ultimate board space efficiency. The series features a metal alloy powder core and is packaged at a low height of only 0.8 mm. Without sacrificing layout space, it provides the saturation current capability required for high-power density DC-DC converter designs.
As the demand for power density in consumer electronics, IoT devices, and small industrial equipment continues to rise, design engineers have long faced the trade-off between inductor performance and size. Additionally, in highly dense circuit layouts, issues of electromagnetic interference and signal integrity have become increasingly severe, with inter-component interference potentially affecting system reliability and increasing the difficulty of EMC certification. Although shielded magnetic components can effectively mitigate these risks, traditionally they are usually larger in size compared to unshielded components. The SRP2008DP series overcomes these challenges through the design of metal alloy powder cores and miniaturized packaging.
Craig Wedley, the director of the Magnetic Products Division at Bourns, stated: "As electronic systems become more powerful and their size continues to shrink, the internal components must also evolve accordingly. The Bourns® SRP2008DP series enables engineers to achieve the necessary safety, signal integrity, and compliance advantages of high-current inductors without sacrificing the circuit layout."
Design Features
The shielding structure can effectively restrict the leakage of magnetic flux, reduce radiation interference, and enhance the EMC performance of the system.
The metal alloy powder magnetic core has high resistance properties, which can suppress eddy currents and reduce core losses at high frequencies.
The magnetic flux concentration design can reduce the magnetic coupling interference with adjacent traces and components.
·Provide high saturation current capacity and maintain stable performance under load conditions
·With a mere 0.8 mm low-profile package, it is suitable for designs with limited space.
·The working temperature range is wide (-40 °C to +125 °C), suitable for harsh environments
·Compliant with RoHS regulations and featuring halogen-free properties
